We were all deeply saddened to hear of the shocking, untimely passing of Japan’s former Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe. Our hearts go out to the family of Mr. Abe, the people of Japan, and Japan’s many friends in Canada and around the world.
The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada has a long and rich engagement with Japan through our management of the Kakehashi (“Bridge”) exchange program and other initiatives to foster mutual understanding and co-operation for a better world. We join our many friends and partners in Japan and in the Japanese-Canadian community in grieving at this loss, and at this senseless attack on democracy and peace in a peaceful, democratic country.
