The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada is Canada’s only national public-purpose institution dedicated exclusively to Canada-Asia engagement. Our vision is a prosperous, secure Canada shaping its future through high-impact engagement with Asia, and our mission is to enable Canadians to understand, connect with, and succeed in Asia.
Through trusted insights, high-level convening, talent development, and building sustained partnerships, we enable more effective, durable, and impactful Canadian engagement across the Indo-Pacific.
APF Canada sets an annual agenda for research, policy dialogue, convening, and education aligned with Canada’s priorities across key domains including: diplomacy, security, and strategic partnerships; trade and investment diversification; supply-chain resilience; middle-power coalition-building; technology and innovation collaboration in priority and emerging sectors; and co-operation on global challenges such as energy security, food security, and climate change.
For over four decades, our research has provided high-quality, relevant, and timely information, insights, and perspectives on Canada-Asia relations for Canadians and stakeholders across the Asia Pacific. Our research outputs include regular Reports & Policy Briefs, Insights, Dispatches, Backgrounders & Explainers, Surveys, Strategic Reflections, Digital Media, and a weekly Asia Watch newsletter tracking the latest news on Asia that matters to Canada.
Our programs provide opportunities for the direct exchange of ideas, perspectives, and policy recommendations, both within Canada and between Canada and the Indo-Pacific. These include APF Canada’s Indo-Pacific Initiative, supported by the Government of Canada through its Indo-Pacific Strategy, the APEC-Canada Growing Business Partnership, and our Education programs.
Flagship convening initiatives include the Canada-in-Asia Conferences, designed for Canadian and Asian business leaders, investors, policy-makers, researchers, and innovators to exchange ideas and create partnerships in key sectors, and the Canadian Women’s International Network, an ecosystem to support Canadian women in international business, through initiatives such as our Women’s Business Missions to Asia.
APF Canada’s head office is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, with a second Canadian office in Toronto, Ontario. Our Asia Regional Office, also supported by the Government of Canada through its Indo-Pacific Strategy, is based in Singapore, delivering various APF Canada programs in the region and providing a convening space available for use by Canadian partners.
