Joe Knockaert

Joe Knockaert has more than 40 years experience in international programs, and in particular with international development. He has worked both in Canada and abroad for the Department of External Affairs (now Global Affairs Canada), the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Simon Fraser University (SFU).

His work has taken him to more than 30 countries, including long-term assignments in South Africa, the Caribbean and Indonesia. During his 30-year career with CIDA, Joe's management positions included: Director, Strategic Planning; Director, Pakistan and Afghanistan Programs; Director, Indonesia Program (based in Jakarta), and Director for CIDA's Pacific Regional Office in Vancouver. At SFU, Joe was Director for the Office of International Cooperation.

Joe has served on advisory boards for international programs at UBC, SFU and Capilano University. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Caribbean Development Bank, MOSAIC and the BC Council for International Cooperation.
