Actress, Chairperson of ‘Get in Touch’ General Incorporated Association

Chizuru Azuma is originally from Hiroshima Prefecture. After working as a company employee, she entered the entertainment industry. She has been active in a wide range of fields, including acting in TV dramas and films, hosting informational programs, serving as a commentator, giving lectures, and publishing books. 

In her private life, Azuma has been involved in volunteer activities for more than 30 years, including working with the bone marrow bank, the German Peace Village, and art initiatives for people with disabilities. 

In 2012, she founded "Get in touch", a non-profit supporting people with disabilities and aiming to create an inclusive society through art, music, video, stage performances, and more. She currently serves as its representative. 

In the minority performer group "Mazekoze Ichiza," she is responsible for planning, directing, costume design, producing, and also performing. 

In 2023, she gave a talk at TEDxKyoto. Her recent publication includes "Yōkai Mazemaze Daijiten" (Goma Books), a richly satirical encyclopedia featuring 61 yōkai (Japanese mythical creatures) that she illustrated herself.
