January 25: A Kakehashi Project Alumni Network Event - The Spirit of Resilience: Stories of Recovery from a Tsunami-damaged Town
On March 11, 2011, the most powerful earthquake recorded in Japan hit the Tohoku region. The devastating magnitude 9.1 earthquake and subsequent tsunami caused massive damage and tragically took over 19,000 lives.
In the past 11 years, much has been done to try to rebuild towns, industries, and lives. The Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) and APF Canada invite Kakehashi alumni to an exclusive online event featuring conversations with 3.11 survivors from Minamisanriku, one of the region’s hardest hit towns.
The event will also feature alumni networking opportunities.
