The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada’s (APF Canada) Women-only Business Mission to South Korea is pivoting to a technology-enabled virtual business mission on November 3rd and 4th, 2020. While the virtual model cannot fully replace the value of an in-market mission (which was originally scheduled for February 2020), it will feature the same components, including a two-day conference with high-level speakers from Canada and South Korea, personalized business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking for the official delegates, and networking opportunities for attendees.
Additionally, the virtual format of the event enables participation by an unlimited number of women entrepreneurs across Canada as non-delegate participants to both the pre-mission training sessions and the mission’s two-day conference agenda. This online format allows us to reach and connect a broader range of women entrepreneurs who are interested in exporting to Asian markets, regardless of where they are in Canada or their stage of export readiness.
The two-day conference will feature prominent leaders from business, government, and technology, as well as company pitch sessions by delegates to showcase women-led Canadian innovation.
The pre-mission training sessions – to be scheduled for late September and October ahead of the mission - will feature a series of webinars on curated topics, such as: market entry strategies, current market conditions, available government supports for exporters, international trade law and the legal framework in South Korea, an overview of Korean business culture, and more. These sessions will be open to the public, but official delegates will be given priority during Q&A.
Schedule of Pre-Mission Training Sessions
- Sept. 29: South Korea in 2020
- Oct. 6: Federal & Provincial Government Supports for SMEs
- Oct. 13: Trade Law & Regulations
- Oct. 20: Technical Expertise (official delegates only)
