The Canadian Critical Minerals Strategy (2022) aims to position Canada as a sustainable, reliable supplier while deepening partnerships with like-minded economies. Yet China’s dominance and the Indo-Pacific’s dependence on its supply chains, coupled with shifting U.S. investment approaches, present significant challenges. At the same time, Canada has opportunities to bolster regional resilience through bilateral and plurilateral initiatives, and under its G7 leadership has called for collective action.
This panel will examine practical policy recommendations and partnership pathways to advance Canada’s critical minerals priorities in the Indo-Pacific.
