Sung-Ho Kang

Sung-Ho Kang

Sung-Ho Kang is a polar oceanographer trained at Texas A&M University (M.S. and Ph.D.) and currently serves as a Principal Research Scientist at the Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI) and Professor at the University of Science and Technology (UST), Korea. 

He has more than three decades of Arctic and Antarctic field experience, including long-term research aboard South Korea’s icebreaking research vessel Araon. Dr. Kang has led major national polar research programs and overwintering missions, served as Chair of the Pacific Arctic Group (PAG), and was President of KOPRI from 2020 to 2023. He is a Fellow of the Korean Academy of Ocean Science and Technology.
