Robert Chin

President, Taiwan Chief Information Security Officer Alliance

Robert Chin has 37 years of professionalism and experience in the high-tech sector, including computer, IT services, foundry, IC design house, embedded, and automotive industries; working experience from global companies such as IBM, to Taiwanese companies such UMC Group and ASUS Group.

His career started from IBM, with different management responsibilities and assignments from sales to services, from Taiwan to Greater China, then to Asia Pacific region. After 12-year service, his last position was Public Sector Service Executive of IBM ASEAN/South Asia.

Robert returned to Taiwan from Singapore in 2000 as UMC’s first CIO, then UMC’s first Chairman of Information Security Committee. He was also assigned by UMC to join TSIA as TSIA’s Chairman of Information Committee for 2 years. During his 14-year service at UMC Group, Robert was assigned to different subsidiaries like SiS, Clientron and Bcom as chairmen and CEOs. He also founded a DRAM module company, ASint, as chairman in 2007.

Robert joined ASUS as Head of Server BU in 2014. Other than BU Head’s role, he established ASUS’s Information Security Committee as its chairman and ASUS’s Global Vice President and first Group CISO. In 2021, Robert set up “High-tech Information Security Alliance” as its first chairman. He also established “Taiwan CISO Alliance” in April 2022 which is the largest CISO Group in Taiwan with 250 members now, across 28 industries, total annual revenue is more than US$ 830 Billion.

Robert is also an Adjunct Professor of National Taiwan University. He was recognized with the "Outstanding ICT Elite Award" in 2025 which is one of Taiwan's top distinctions in technology.
