Canada in India Week November 2025

Building on the momentum and outcomes of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, November 22-23, 2025, where Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed in a joint statement to launch negotiations towards a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and committed to doubling bilateral trade to C$70 billion by 2030, the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada was in New Delhi, India November 24-26.

The Canada-India 'reset' is not only continuing but deepening, with Carney also formally accepting Modi’s invitation to visit India in early 2026 and the two countries charting an ambitious roadmap that integrates trade diversification, investment, energy co-operation, and technology partnerships.

With partners including the New Delhi-based Council for Strategic and Defense Research (CSDR), the Ananta Aspen Centre, and the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber, along with the Canadian High Commission in India and the India-Canada Research Initiative launched this year by APF Canada in partnership with CSDR, this week in India the Foundation convened curated groups of policymakers, industry leaders, experts, and thought leaders from both countries to deepen collaboration in key areas, including critical minerals and supply chain resilience, defence-industrial and security co-operation, and bilateral relations more generally.
