Mongolia

Mongolia has seen 893 confirmed COVID-19 cases and zero deaths as of December 9, 2020. The country took drastic measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 early on, but stopped short of a lockdown. In January, as the virus rapidly spread across China, Mongolia shut its borders to China, closed schools, and cancelled public gatherings. Checkpoints were set up to seal off intercity traffic during the Lunar New Year, and after confirming the first case on March 9, the government quickly sealed off its capital and other provincial cities.
